Metro Interpreters Resource Center

The Metro Interpreters Resource Center (MIRC) was developed to provide coordinated training and administrative support for a network of certified and professional bilingual interpreters to serve individuals with limited English proficiency in Cass and Clay counties. Our mission is to serve as an interpreters resource in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

  • Organize and coordinate annual interpreter training workshops to certify bilingual individuals as professional community interpreters serving residents and agencies in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.
  • Create, maintain, and update a list of certified professional interpreters for MIRC members.
  • Conduct basic interpreter training, including the code of ethics, for beginners, and refresher classes for professional interpreters.
  • Supply area schools, businesses, clinics, and courts with high-quality interpreters wherever communication must be had.

Our multilingual roadmap

What we are translating first

Because CDR serves a culturally and linguistically diverse community, multilingual access is part of our long-term website strategy. Rather than translate everything at once, we are prioritizing the information people need most, in the languages we serve most often: Arabic, Somali, Spanish, Kurdish, Nepali, Swahili, and Vietnamese.

  1. 1Program information
  2. 2Application and registration instructions
  3. 3Community resources
  4. 4Contact information
  5. 5Self-sufficiency resources

Frequently asked questions

Is interpreting free when I use a CDR program?

Yes. When you sign up for any CDR program, tell us your preferred language and we will arrange an interpreter at no cost to you.

How do I request an interpreter for my school, clinic, court, or business?

Call the Metro Interpreters Resource Center at 701-526-3000 or email mirc@culturaldiversityresources.org. Interpreters are scheduled by request and are available for schools, courts, medical systems, agencies, and private businesses.

How do I become an interpreter?

MIRC trains and certifies bilingual community members as professional interpreters. Contact MIRC to ask about the next training workshop.

Will this website be available in other languages?

Multilingual access is part of CDR's long-term website plan. We are prioritizing program information, application and registration instructions, community resources, contact information, and self-sufficiency resources first.
