Cultural Diversity Resources exists to remove barriers to community participation, and that includes barriers on our own website. We want everyone, including people using assistive technology, to be able to use this site.
Our standard
This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Among other measures, the site provides:
- Full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators
- Descriptive alternative text on every image
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio for text
- Properly labeled forms with clear, specific error messages
- A logical heading structure and semantic HTML on every page
- Support for reduced-motion preferences
- A skip link to jump straight to the main content
How we test
Accessibility on this site is checked, not assumed. Every page is run through automated axe-core audits at desktop and mobile screen sizes, navigated end to end with a keyboard alone, and reviewed at a 390-pixel viewport to confirm nothing requires horizontal scrolling. Forms are tested with their error states to make sure messages are announced and easy to correct.
Known limitations
Some parts of the experience rely on outside services, such as the secure payment window used for donations, and we cannot fully control how accessible those third-party pages are. Where we find problems we report them to the vendor and look for alternatives, and you can always reach us by phone instead.
